The Cesca chair is a 1928 design by Bauhaus-trained architect Marcel Breuer that features a cantilevered tubular steel frame and a seat and back, often made of woven cane or upholstered fabric. Inspired by the lightweight and sturdy frame of a bicycle, Breuer created this mass-producible chair to combine traditional craftsmanship with industrial materials. Named after his adopted daughter, Francesca, the Cesca chair has remained a timeless and versatile classic in modern furniture, known for its blend of industrial and organic elements.
